Nordic Walking

Is there anyone down here near Waikanae, Paraparaumu (Kapiti Coast) area that is interested in taking up Nordic Walking or learning or having a refresher course on this 'sport'. I am very interested along with a friend of mine (we are 70yrs and 72yrs respectively). I have contacted Barbara in Auckland who contacted Matthias who is passing through here 2nd and 3rd Sept 2010 (Thurs & Fri). who is willing to give us a 'taster' and/or 'starter' session.(as long as there is more than 1 person!!) I have emailed him/her back but as yet he has yet to confirm some of my questions.
There was an instructor here, who unfortunately went overseas, and as yet they have been unable to replace them. so there is no club here. Even if you only want to learn to do it on your own that's fine, as I will probably do it by myself through thre week and join up with my friend on our usual Sunday walk.

Well - Matthis & Barbara couldn't make it, as Barbara had to stay longer overseas - so have been busy contacting other sites. Nordic Academy in Wgtn. Found they have instructors & walks in Wellingtion & Petone. We used to live in Hutt Valley few years back - why did we shift!! - Also contacted Sports Kapiti Office here in Waikanae - still no luck & unfortunately no instructor still here on Kapiti Coast - was advised to buy the Video/CD and go from there & maybe buy the poles from the Academy. Here's hoping - have birthday coming up in Nov. must make hints to other 1/.2 for Poles as a present !!

Just to mention I have contacted Silva Noakes in Petone - have had lessons with her & go down fortnightly to her group.on a Sunday morning <silva.noakes@gmail.com> or to know where the walks are visit http://wnw.clubspaces.com/Default_css.aspx or for other instructors in the Wellington Area - visit http://www.nordicacademy.co.nz/lower-north-island.html
Also another instructor is in the Kapiti Coast now - Kate Graham<skalf@clear.net.nz>
She is taking groups on a Monday morning for walks. Tomorrow being my 1st (23rd May) with her meeting at Wheroroa Farm - McKays Crossing - for 1hrs. bush walk behind the farm.
