Thank you (Mk II)!

Hi folks

In addition to the thanks for the awesome conversation and inspiration from the community here, I also want to say a huge "THANKS" to Paula and Susan for the competitions they run.

I managed to be the winner of the Asics shoes last month... and my vouchers arrived in the mail this weekend, so I now have a shiny new pair of walking shoes (which is very timely, because my old ones were just about to give up the ghost!)

I'm also just about to head off to the other side of the world for a walking holiday in Cornwall in the UK, so my new shoes will no doubt come in very handy while I'm over there - well, OK, possibly actually when I get back, since I do need to break them in a little before I start using them for long 20km daily walks!

But anyway - thank you so much, Susan and Paula (and Asics, of course), for the awesome prize, and I look forward to waxing lyrical about my trip once I'm back!

Hi Starfire

Fantastic news, and very timely in view of your walking holiday. Well done indeed!

Have a wonderful trip and look forward to hearing from you and maybe even see some photos when you return. Gosh what a lovely part of the world to see and by all accounts great weather over there just now.

Enjoy your trip, bon voyage!

Wow Have a great trip Starfire. I'm sure your new shoes won't need breaking in, I won some too and they are really comfy. i have had no trouble at all with them. Take care over there and take lots of photos and show us when you get back.

You thank us every time you contribute. i am sitting in the foyer of hotel trying to escape the tribe. never fear i will be found when the money runs dry. Hot as hell..shouldn't complain but been up all night with one boy with ear infection and when you are really tired the heat and sun makes you feel worse.
Amazingly cheap here we can feed the whole family at night( 6 of us for $30 )dollars some of the places are a bit dodgy and we have had some runs to the w.c. but no Bali belly yet.
Massages are cheap and fab too and that is my treat i just could lie there all day being massaged from head to toe..me become very good customer.
I hear it is cold at home.. I hope starfire you get the odd chance to let us know how your walking holiday goes. travel safely.

Sounds bliss Susan, hope you have had a massage a day. If I was rich I'd have a hairdresser and a masseuse ... oh and a walking and exercise coach. Of course i'd be so rich I'd not need to work ... dream on, wakey wakey!

Food and everything sounds fab there. Never been to Bali. Hope you get lots of 'me-time' in among the precious family time too Susan.

Forums are quiet this week with school hols and Starfire being away ... so hope she does get chance to read this and know we are missing her.

It is still cold here but we've had lovely sunny days with clear skies, so worth the chilly mornings and nights to have the clear days. I've been walking in the dark and the stars were still twinkling, magic!

Have fun there and hi to everyone else who's tuning in.

Hi all I could do with a massage big time. I did a step class on Monday night and my calves are protesting. I am hobbling. I did walk to work and home but it wasn't as fast as normal. Ah well it's all for a good cause.
We have the fire roaring so it's just about as hot as Bali indoors but the frosts have been pretty fierce these last couple of weeks. Can't complain though, the sun has shone and the birds are singing. NIce. Hope everyone enjoys their last few days before back to routine next week.

Hi all - Those massages & being in Bali sound awesome Susan. Make the most of it. You certainly deserve it. It is a lovely time to spend with children at that age - altho you probably won't believe it - (Someone told me that when I had children (4) at home & I just thought WHAT!!) But one can do so much with your life and with them - even running round to all their sports etc & still fitting in in what one can do. . & one meets so many people.
My 3 grandchildren have since gone home - all go - took them swimming 2 days running - they are all keen to show me what they can do - "watch this Nana" watch me Nana" was all i got. Plus I was instructed to teach them a few more tricks they could do in the water. (I stood at the side) Should have jumped in I guess!
Went for my 1st 4km! walk this morning for over A week Had Stomach Bug beginning of week, so had nothing to eat for few days. On a Salt, Sugar Liquid diet supplemented by Herbel Teas- Lemon & Ginger, Raspberry which was absolutely awesome!! Ok now and Oh how I love my food now although was onboiled rice & banana & Bread for a day (Brat diet).
Hey I promise I won't write on here in future in things going bad for me! Other 1/2 is now onto another set of pills so things are looking up.
Am off to Paraparaumu now to pick up my crossstitch which was being framed. I may get another finished by the end of winter, in between walking and gardening.
Have a great weekend everyone - It has been lovely & sunny this week in the Kapiti Coast, but today it is cold (frosts in morning) and I believe rain is forcast for the weekend. My sister-in-law in Napier said it was raining yesterday or the day before, and here we were in brilliant sunshine.

I wondered where you were off to Susan. I was waiting in the same checkin line as you at the airport on the Thursday but on my way to Sydney. I have to say you looked like you were coping really well.

Hope you enjoyed your trip mine was a tad colder than yours but still enjoyable.

Helen.

Weren't the queues horrendous after leaving at 2.00am we were in no mood for that. However boys do grow up and no longer ram baggage trolleys into people, swing on the dividers and break them or want to go to the toliet when we reach the check out finally.
Not sure whether i would fly pacific Blue again..cheap isn't everyhting and by the time you pay for everything it all adds up. Short flights are ok but the long bit was tedious and $10 for a movie..horrendous.No pillows and blankets we froze on the way home.
Whing whinge sounds like i have a case of the blues well I have had one of those days of great intentions and nothing has got done apart from burning the macaroni cheese.
i should be updating the events writing the newsletter doing a blog walking washing working but can't be fagged instead following up teachers who have suddenly let it be known that boys need to pull finger..shame they waited two terms to let me know..now I will be stressing..anyone got any great workable solutions for teenage boys who see no importance on homework or revision ??????
Might take the dog out listening to myself has made me depresssed.

The queues were shocking and your boys behaved nicely. I thought some of them were quite smart using the trolleys for sitting :). No we came to the same assumption as you about Pacific Blue, I really like my comfort and convenience on the other airlines and in the end they all add up to the same if not cheaper than PB. When you were standing in the queue I didn't realise it was for Bali, I only heard them calling out Melboure, Raro and our flight to Sydney. So that is at least 4 flights in the one queue.
As for parent teacher interviews, for the first time in my youngest boys life at the age of 13 with ADD he was finally given an excellent interview with leadership qualities, good role model and at the top of his subjects, blew all of us away :D
