Crikey muzzlin wondering what you are doing up at 3 am probably a bit early for a morning walk but I agree huge congrats to starfire and the achievement will stay with you forever.
Absolutely awesome and has inspired me to get cracking and back to work on WW.
had quite a lot of time away from technology no cell coverage etc when you are camping in the whop whops and so good for our techie addicts called children but nearing the start of school and back to routines etc.
But from all of us here (Paula and moi ) you can squee as much as you like.

Thanks, folks! I'm smiling hugely as I read all the congrats :-)
I have a load more events planned over the next few months - 2 more Molenberg Sub 21kms, the Botany Town Centre 10km, and the Orewa Half-Marathon as well - most of them have 5km versions available as well, so it would be awesome to see other Aucklandian Wonder Walkers there if you're up for a bit of a challenge!

Congrats. Am a bit late here I know - I did Taupo 1/2 (2006) flat couse in 3.30. That was my 1st walking one and it was raining. One of the girls (70yr old) I was walking with - her daughter who also did it, finished it, went for a swim in the Hot Pools, and was down to meet us at the finish! Married too with a couple of kids - she racewalks it!
Good luck with the rest of your 1/2's etc. Keep that motivation going - is great to hear. Sorry but I'm from the bottom of the North Island.
That reminds me - I'd better get out for a walk - been reading here 1/2 the morning!

Well done you! it is a great achievement to have completed something like this and to have done it in a time better than you were expecting is even better.
I completed the Buller Half Marathon this year and although I was incredibly sore afterwards I was so pleased with myself as it was the WORST weather they have ever had for it.
It is a lovely walk with lots of native bush around to admire as you are walking. I hope to do it again next year but have to work on my motivation for walking at the moment.

Hello and well done Starfire, you keep on training girl and aiming for the next one.
You have to have goals and then set them again and again to see if you can better you time. It is so rewarding.
I am a newbie to Wonder Walkers and I already love the inspiration I am feeling from alot of the posts.

Thanks guys! I had a 19.5km offroad trail "run" (I just walked most of it, and slow-ran every now and then when I thought my body could handle it) last weekend, and I'm possibly doing another on-road half-marathon, which will be my sixth this year, this weekend coming. So I'm definitely still keeping with the training!
Then I'm away and wandering the wilds of Cornwall for a week in the UK; and when I get back, it'll be time to start the slow, gradual buildup towards the 100km Trailwalker 2011. I sat down and sorted out a training schedule for myself that runs from August 9th, the week I get back, until the big event next April. In theory, it incorporates all the organised events - half-marathons and the like - that I want to sign myself up for over those months, plus gradually increases my weekly distance totals until March next year, then starts tapering down until Trailwalker.
Now all I need is a confirmed team!!!!
PS - Lovetowalk - wow - I notice from one of your other posts that you did a full marathon earlier on this year - was that the Rotorua one? I'm seriously thinking of entering that next year - it's just the right amount of time after Trailwalker that I should have had a chance to recover by then, but not so far afterwards that I"m likely to have started to lose base fitness :-)

Thanks girls for all the encouraging stories :-) Oh my gawd Starfire - if I can do half of what you do I will be very chuffed indeed :-) :-)

*soft smile* - you can *SO* do it, Suzy. Seriously - four years ago, I would have looked at you goggle-eyed if you'd suggested I'd be doing any kind of half-marathon, let alone training for (AND COMPLETING, WOOOOT!) a 100km walk.
But now here I am in 2011, realising that somehow, I've logged nearly 2,000km of walking/running in training and events over the past year. Trust me, if I can do it, absolutely anyone can!
Best of luck with your Rotorua half-marathon goal, and if there's any questions I can answer for you, please don't hesitate to ask :-)
