Hey Elaine, it is lovely we have had a few days of rain which was definately needed, a bit of wind so the leaves are starting to fall. No wind today but still a bit cloudy, weather forecast is rain but was yesterday and we didn't see any, you never quite know around here.
I look over the sea and it is a bit brown as the rivers are up, but flat calm today, a couple of boats are out and about, not a lot of tourists around though, which means it is very quiet around here.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Well I am sorry to tell everyone but it is stunningly beautiful here again today, same as yesterday a little cool overnight but beautiful day sat and read for an hour yesterday with a coffee in shorts and tanktop beautiful. I will be off out to the gym and walk later in the morning I think, get out there while I can I say.
I trust you all had wonderful weekends, and did something for yourself. I went to a friends for lunch yesterday - they are off overseas for 3 months so wanted to use some food out of the pantry - we all sat outside until 4 pm was so lovely, and ate way too much whitebait - am I complaining !! well only that I will need to walk twice as far today. take care everyone....

Lois that sounds like a blissful afternoon with friends - and in the beautiful part of the country you live in - what could be more perfect. I had girlfriends lunch on Saturday and we sat around talking for hours too - however it was a dreary cold day here but all the more cosy being indoors looking out.
Beautiful again today - the skies have been lovely at dusk last few evenings, blue and pink and you know it's going to be really cold overnight but well worth it.
Oh well I better get going, should be at work but got some hours to myself this morning and what better than tuning in here to say hi to you all.
Have great day and great week.
PS Oh and did anyone mention walking? I'm being very bad again!

Hi all, I am sorry to say but it is gorgeous again, it did rain over night and I notice a drop of snow on the hills above Nelson, but sunny and lovely again, although not meant to get particularly warm this morning. Well Done all of the Rotorua girls, fantastic effort no matter how fast or slow or even if you didn't finish, the point is you were out there and that is the main thing.
I will head into the gym later this morning, while I have the time I have been doing 30 minutes circuit then out for 40 minute jog or a 60 minute wallk and then back in for 30 more minutes circuit, really enjoying it, making the most of it while I have the time, I have decided that my unemployment days are coming to an end!! well that is my philosophy and I am sticking to it, and joy of joy's I have two interviews this week, so that has to be good!!!! - have a great day everyone.

I'm going to Wellington for the weekend for a party - my best friend turning 50! Talk to you all next week.

Hi all,
Glorious day again (I know ladies I am sorry to say), tshirt and shirts weather all day, so nice to be out walking in the sun fantastic. Another weekend and thankgoodness I have just heard that the horrible saga in Napier is over - so very sad for the families involved, heartbreaking, have been thinking of them all often over the last couple of days, and to think we have lost three of our best over the last 10 months - one of the worst records per head of population around the world! So what is wrong with us in NZ I ask, we live in the most amazing country in the world, we are feeling the economic downturn less than most of the world, we have low unemployment, we have a social system that helps so many and yet there is this underlying anger flowing through! I don't know the answer - but I did notice when I did a lot of travelling a few years ago, those with nothing had such a happy attitude to life and gratitude for what they had! - maybe thats a lesson we could all learn.
Well that is my rave for the day - have a lovely weekend everyone - be happy and spread it around!!!

Reporting from close to Papamoa..the weather was amazing...a real freak hail storm. Of course the kids loved it because it looked like snow on the ground and there were snowmen, sledging all sorts. Quite out of character for the sunny Bay of Plenty and not good for walking. My little car got stuck in the sleet and a group of kids playing pushed me out. How did the job interviews go?

Must have been amazing, but not something you would want to see everyday I expect. Interviews went well, the one I really want was good with excellent feedback to the recruitment agent, have another meeting with them tomorrow so fingers crossed. Based in Richmond, so would be excellent, saves me having to head back to Wellington!!.
Another glorious day here, good frost this morning, busy making some cupcakes that are commonly called 'nipple cakes' around here, have a friend with breastcancer who had her surgery 3 weeks ago, she is home, on the mend but without her 'nipple' at this stage, so will brighten her day with a good laugh!!, and of course a yummy treat to share....

Lois that's so good - the cup cake things. What a great idea to keep your friend with humour and company around at a time like this. I hope your friend has a full and speedy recovery. Great to hear your interviews went well. Wishing you luck.
Susan the sleet and hail wounds amazing. I saw it in the Herald this morning - wow! Your boys would have loved it if they managed to get out too.
We had fab weekend in Wairarapa and managed to take planes, trains and automobiles! Great fun was had.
Have great week ladies, talk soon.

For the first time in weeks and weeks ... I actually walked this morning. Dark, wet and cold but I feel so much better for having done so. So motivated, I ate breakfast (a rarity), made lunch and made dinner for tonight.
I have reminded myself of how much better I feel when I walk regularly.
Hope everyone having good day and good week. Flying in again isn't it?!

Hi I'm new to this website saw it advertised in one of the magazines and thought it would be a good idea as I am trying to get fitter and lose some weight before a holiday back to the uk in July - anything to try and give me a spur on and a bit of motivation! I have decided to get back to some walking, swimming and cycling after doing nothing for the last month due to every and any excuse I could come up with but today its blue skies and sunny in central otago so I am going to go for it with at least a short walk this afternoon as soon as I've finished work (before getting comfy for the evening!)

Hi Janey Jane, welcome to the site, let us know that you have been out for a short walk after work!!! - we are all really really good at finding excuses not to get out for a walk, and everytime we do it we feel great, I am sure there is some odd bit in our brain that is wired to ensure we have a good excuse..
Well done Elaine out in the dark good for you, I have had the luxury of being able to walk anytime of the day, but I have my fingers crossed on getting a job really soon so my luxury will be over and I am sure will have really really good excuses about not being able to do it - like I have to commute two hours a day (which I will), so am working on not using that one as an excuse.
Hope all you wonderful WW are enjoying the changing season - I am sure skiers will be delighted with early snowfalls - me I am already looking forward to summer..... take care

Hi Janey
Nice to 'meet' you. Hope you'll pop in and talk to us and tell us how things are going. It's a friendly place and lots of great links to other interesting places. Central Otago is a lovely spot. Loved the area when we went to Queenstown and travelled over to Alexandra and surrounding area - also you have the best red wine. Good luck finding a walking buddy. If no one comes up for a while, you could try a radio or Ipod. I use my cell phone radio and it makes all the difference.
Hey Lois, you live in one of NZs most beautiful places so can imagine your walking spots are perfect. I know what you mean about excuses and commuting is no small thing. I managed to get out of bed two mornings in a row - so just polishing my halo ... before it slips down my neck and strangles me. Must keep the motivation up over the weekend.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Elaine,
I wondered what the blinding flash was this morning - it was you polishing your halo, and here I was thinking it was lightening!!!! - Good on you, at around 6 this morning we were having a massive storm, so definately no walking at that time of the day, the sun is now trying to shine, and the wind has dropped so not looking too bad.
Weather looks a bit suspect for the weekend, so will make a trip into the gym tomorrow if it is rather than go out and get wet and cold!!. What ever you are doing this weekend one and all - enjoy!!

Hi Lois and Elaine,
Well ididn't make it out yesterday after work but I will today as I am finishing early and its a beautiful blue sky day down here so I am going for a walk as soon as I've finished near Cromwell before getting back home to Alex - that way I stand a chance of doing it - yesterday I got the fire going and then decided it was too comfy to go! Have to get to the swimming pool this weekend if its going to be yuk!
have a good weekend

Hi y'all Wonderful weather in ChCh too, although last weekend it was freezing with sleet and all,. Thank goodness I have the treadmill.
Lois I hope your friend is feeling better, It's an ongoing thing this recovery business. I laugh at the cupcake idea. On Breast Cancer week last year My team decided to celebrate with a pink day.... it ended up being a "boobie day" We had pink balloons with nipples on them, Cup Cakes, a "Boobie Cake" ie two round sponges with pink icing and a dollop of Jam in the middle. It was fun. I too have had a mastectomy and all I can say is keep the sense of humour going., If you don't laugh you have to cry and thats no fun.
Good on you for being such fine support for your friend.
Hope you all have a great weekend and Keep Walking

Hi Macicginga, thanks - have been baking for my friend again today, she has ended up in hospital with an infection and hasn't been a bit well, but fingers crossed she is home tomorrow, her sister is arriving from up North for a few days so thought I would put some baking in her tins. Some more 'nipple' cakes have been made, custard craisin biscuits, and a lemon syrup cake, so that should fill a spot or two.
We had an unbelievable storm over night, the house was shaking, and really loud, nearly baked at 3.30 this morning but the we kept losing the power so thought that might not work. I decided to be positive, put my ear plugs in, and told myself I was lying in Business Class flying off somewhere exotic and it was just a bit bumpy - well I went to sleep - I am sure if the roof had lifted I would have woken up!!!
A treadmill in winter is definately a good idea, if I was going to buy a piece of equipment it would be a treadmill as I know it would be the one thing that I would use.
Have a great week girls - and keep on smiling !!

Hi girls
Great to see all the activity happening here. Look how many pages we have!
Not a lot of news except I have walked a little bit more, every second day since Friday. This morning extra hard to get out of bed because I sat up too late last night and ... because it was soooo dark, it felt like 3 am. However I did drag myself out there and feel so much better for it.
Great to hear about all the boobie parties and wow all that baking Lois. You are such a good and supportive friend to have.
Thought for the day: I wish I had a treadmill too! :)
