Mangaokewa Scenic Reserve
- Description
- Cross the bridge and walk up the river to a waterfall. Swimming spots along the way and great picnic areas. This area was once a hunting ground and source of medicinal plants for Maori. It is sacred ground and must be respected.The remains of a Limestone cave are visible above the stream. The Mangaokewa rail viaduct crossing above the road into the reserve is the third highest on the main trunk line.
