Kaipawa Trig Track
- Location
- accessible from two locations; the summit of Whangapoua Road (SH 25) or opposite Tokatea Lookout on the summit of Kennedy Bay Road. (approximately 7kms north of Coromandel town centre).
- Description
This tramping track meanders through regenerating forest to the trig. Return the way you came or continue on to the other access point·
- Challenging day or multi-day tramping/hiking·
- Track is mostly unformed with steep, rough or muddy sections·
- Suitable for people with good fitness. Moderate to high level backcountry skills and experience, including navigation and survival skills required·
- Track has markers, poles or rock cairns. Expect unbridged stream and river crossings·
- Tramping/hiking boots required·
There are many old mine shafts in this area that are dangerously overgrown. Please keep to the track.
