Two minutes by ferry from Whitianga Wharf.
Description

A short walking track leads into Whitianga Rock Scenic and Historic Reserve, once the site of a well-fortified Ngati Hei pa. Built in 1840 and two minutes by ferry from Whitianga Wharf, Ferry Landing is probably the oldest stone wharf in Australasia.

  • Easy walking for up to an hour·
  • Track is well formed, with an even surface. There may be steps or slopes·
  • Suitable for people of most abilities and fitness·
  • Stream and rivers crossings are bridged·
  • Walking shoes required·

You should boil all water from Coromandel rivers, streams and campgrounds before drinking to eliminate any risk of infection from giardia.
