Burrill Track

Location

Great Barrier Island lies 100 km northeast of downtown Auckland on the outer edge of the Hauraki Gulf. Getting to the island can be by sea or air and once you are there transport and tours on the island include taxis, rental cars, mountain bikes, kayak tours and tour operators. The major towns and villages are Claris, Tryphena, Medlands Beach and Port FitzRoy.

Burrill Track leaves from Mabey Rd.

Description
Burrill Track begins at Mabey Rd climbing steeply to the central ridge, you then follow the ridge north to Tataweka. You return the same way. The track was formed in the early 1970's for mining prospecting access for copper.There is no water available on the track so bring your own·
