Pukemokemoke Bush Loop Track
- Location
- Drive north on Highway 9 through Gordonton, then turn right on the Whitikahu road towards Tauhei. After 10 km you will see a hill and quarry on the left. The bush on the hill is the Pukemokemoke reserve (40 ha) administered by the David Johnstone Pukemokemoke Bush Trust and open to the public. The entrance is signposted.
- Description
To get to the start of the track, cross the bridge, read the noticeboard then follow the path immediately to the left of the noticeboard. There are nine sites along the track, which are marked and are of special interest. Over 300 native plants species are found in the bush including matai, totara, kauri, kanuka and kahikatea.This track is administered by the Pukemokemoke Bush Trust on behalf of Waikato District Council.
Easy to moderate walking from a few minutes to a day· Track is mostly well formed, some sections may be steep, rough or muddy·
Suitable for people with low to moderate fitness and abilities·
Clearly sign posted.
Stream and river crossings are bridged·
Walking shoes or light tramping/hiking boots required.- Duration
