Kowhai Park

Kowhai Park was established in 1933 and is a bush reserve with more than 4 hectares situated beside the main highway leaving Warkworth for the north. Circular bush walk past historic limekilns. Parts can be muddy when wet.
Start the walk from the roundabout where traffic turn off to Leigh or the Mahurangi Peninsula. The track is gravel and runs beside Mill Stream, then climbs steeply up to a picnic table before descending down as you pass the historic limekilns. There are numerous matai, kahikatea, kauri, kowhai and totara in this park and at least one totara.
