Wanderlust holidays are small and personalised with a maximum of 14 participants per group. Our clients are New Zealanders (and occasionally Australians), predominantly in the 45 – 75 age group. They share a common interest in active travel and exploring places not accessible to large coach tours. They have often done the big OE in younger years and now they want to travel at a more leisurely pace, meet the local people and really get ‘the feel’ of a country – not just see it through a coach window. Single travellers and couples all enjoy sharing their experiences with a small group of friends rather than exploring and dining independently. Although they have the opportunity to dine on their own we find that most clients join their guide for meals. Clients often tell us how well they feel after their Wanderlust holiday – thanks to gentle exercise, great food and pleasant company!
Wanderlust Holidays is an independent New Zealand company that has been specialising in active small group holidays since 1988. We are not ‘mountain goats’ but enjoy walking or cycling for 3-5 hours a day, carrying just a small day pack. We usually stay several nights in each place, using our hotel as a base for exploring the region. Not packing up and moving on each day is much appreciated by clients and guides alike! Karen and her friendly experienced guides take care of the hassles of travel, ensuring clients have a stress-free, relaxing holiday. Most of us, both guides and guests, are well past the ‘backpacker’ stage – we enjoy exploring off the beaten track by day but appreciate a comfortable bed at night! The delightful small hotels and inns we use are usually family-run, and all rooms have private facilities.
