The Latest Craze.

Posted on June 09, 2010 at 03:01 PM

There is a new craze in town, the Skechers Shape-Ups walking shoes.

Here's what they say. " Shape Up Walking Shoes are designed to stimulate more muscles and balance with a rocker sole with a soft kinetic wedge. The rocker sole enhances the natural walking motion of rolling through a step from heel to toe. The sole is designed in three layers with a firm midsole for support and a super soft foam kinetic wedge that absorbs shock with each step and simulates walking in soft sand. This combination seeks to activate more muscles to develop balance and posture and tone leg and buttock muscles."

I was in a sports shop tha other day and talking to the shop assistant as i watched woman after woman come into enquire about these shoes.

He told me they had had them in stock for a few months and only sold a couple of pairs and then suddenly when the TV ads started popping up in the Coronation St ad breaks with the by line...weight loss they couldn't keep up with demand.

I would be fascinated to know if they genuinely work, the cynic in me says it's just another fad and a great marketing tool by using the weight loss promise.

I was prompted to blog about this as I met a woman walking up the Mt this morning who was wearing a pair. Between gasping for breath I asked her opinion and she swore by them saying that they worked more muscles in her legs than normal shoes.

Let us know here at Wonder Walkers if anyone else has tried them or looking to buy a pair.!
