Tiritiri Matangi trip - 14 Feb 2010

Over the last 10 weeks I have been training to be a volunteer guide on Tiri so if you are thinking of going over to the island and would like me to guide you, let me know. It costs $5 for a guide plus your ferry fare. The $5 goes to the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi.

Other dates I am on deck are Easter Sunday (April 4) and Sunday May 2.

A small group of us went over to Tiri on the Saturday of Anniversary Weekend and while waiting patiently for about 25 minutes were treated to the sight of a rifleman. This is NZ’s smallest bird.
Orca were sighted over there in January, and I was lucky enough to be in the water at Hobbs Beach when two came by. It was such a thrill!
