French Fries Everywhere

Posted on November 17, 2009 at 06:47 AM

I have just recently returned from a week in Kuwait..not my prefered choice of holiday destination but nonetheless it was great to have a week of no chores..no kids and a bit of luxury.
I attended the Mens squash World Champs and was inducted into the Legends Hall of Fame.

All that means is that I am old.

I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and prisitne the city was and in fact walking along the esplanade was rather pleasant albeit ..pretty hot.

A white women in walking gear attracts a few stares especially as 80 % of the women are wearing full berkas. I even chuckled to myself as I saw a couple parasailing and jet skiing in their full regalia.

I can't see too many benefits wearing those outfits except that it covers a multitude of sins and you wouldn't have the panic of wondering what to wear each day.

I was also perplexed as to who bought all the clothes at the magnificent shopping malls but I am told that at home these women wear normal clothes.

One thing that I have noticed in my travels over the years is the first thing you always notice in any new country is the golden arches of Macdonalds and then dotted amongst all the historic buildings are the ususal Pizza Hut..KFC..Taco Bell. It's no wonder that there are more obese people in the world that malnourished and the rest are all supermodels..

The downfall of the world has ultimately been the french frie . I generally try pretty hard to avoid too much fast food but it is never easy especially in a foreign country where you aren't too sure about the food you always know a Big Mac will taste the same.

We are on a mission at home to cut back..cut down or cut out.Not easy when you have four sons who aren't so keen on carrots dipped in hummous.

Women are sharing their weight loss experiences in the Forum ..notably called the Wonderwalkers Weight Clobbering Club.

Whilst I would dearly love to lose a few kilos,it's not my first priority however all the discussion has made me focus on trying to achieve a healtheir eating regime into our family.

The goal is to introduce one new healthy habit once a week..so for starters no more french fries.

Check out the photo of my friends in Kuwait..tucking in.
