Description

Mt St John is also known as Titikopuke.

Mt St John is a scoria cone with a single crater approximately 125 metres wide and 20 metres deep. Mt St John Domain is located in Epsom, with pedestrian access from Market Road, Mt St John Avenue and Belvedere Street.

The domain is under pasture with a variety of native and introduced trees growing in the crater and on the slopes of the cone. It provides an area of secluded green space within the built up urban environment, that is used mainly by local residents for informal recreational activities such as walking and jogging. Several local schools, together with community youth groups, use the domain for various outdoor educational activities. The remains of Maori occupation of the mountain provide an element of historic and archaeological interest.
