The Walking Office-
Because I walk every day I often take my office with me.
It consists of a mobile; a big black felt pen and a notepad small enough to fit in my pocket.
As those that know me will attest –I am not technically agile-However I am getting more and more” into it” and just can’t believe what you can do on and with a mobile! I now have a new one as my last one drowned while I was trying to be a good greenie walker and waded into the duck pond to retrieve a plastic bag (I cant forget the doco I once saw on what plastic in the ocean does to our sea life)…Anyway I digress…The biggest issue for me in choosing a new phone is……colour! I just loved my last red one but now that colour isn’t made-It reminds me of all the fantastic lollies they used to make but now don’t! I hope some of you will remember the great Snifters protest!!!!!!!
So this new phone is magic-I can talk, txt, record memo’s,write memos,do appointments, check emails, take photo’s etc etc -all while keeping an eye on the canine companions .OK ….so that’s what most people could do but I’m determined to conquer this new world-If my great nephew at 5 can do it all surely I must be able to?? How embarrassing is it to have to get a 5 year old to record a favourite programme on telly!
I love my big black felt pen, which I use to write down ideas that seem to flood in while I’m walking. I often use my notebook but more often the backs of my hands which I have less chance of losing. ……Crikey –Who invented middle age??
One of the best things about walking is the amazing effect it has on ‘thinking’-I sometimes cant believe what I come up with on a walk- Susan normally dreads it as I’ll ring her with another” great idea (Yeah right) Normally most of the ideas are ‘out there’ but walking is really fantastic for creative thought-I think –when I choose to take my office with me –that it can be the most productive time of the day cos I get home with lists everywhere and know what I want to achieve-The only problem is deciphering the lists and trying to hear the recordings above the sound of the canines barking! Not a good look talking with an IC(important client) and having bow wow’s chiming in!
Walking is a great way to find the space to think-Walking impacts on the ‘feel good’ processes of the brain so its also great for the whole mind and sense of well being
.
I like “I’m busy working-I ‘m out walking !
Hope the school holidays are going well!
Happy Walking.
Paula.
