Wanderland

Easter Eggs,Hot Cross Buns are now behind us.

For one of us at WonderWalkers H.Q the results of tucking into the Easter “spirit” are well and truly on the behind!

Was lucky to spend a few days at Easter in National Park. It transforms from snow/ski capital in winter and spring to walk capital during summer and autumn.

Did you know that in “1887 Te Heu Heu gifted the sacred volcanoes of Tongariro,Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu to the Crown and the people of NZ and that original gift of 2360 hectares has been increased over the years by government purchase to create a National Park of 78618 hectares.”

“National Parks represent glimpses of our environment as it once was, and also form cultural icons that connect people to the land. The Dept of Conservation Centre at Ruapehu is a great place to visit, lots of great info-a great place for meeting fellow walkers from around the globe and good coffee.
Had to buy a T Shirt which says;”The earth makes great music for those who listen”

There are a lot of walks which have all been well classified by DOC,according to age, ability etc.Good information on wheelchair access.

Their walk info is a must have.

Check out the doc area websites for the area.

And while National Park is a treasure trove of walking gold-so is the rest of our magnificent land.

Is there anything better than walking amidst falling copper leaves on crisp sunny days?

Wonder Walkers-We have a Wonder land .Enjoy the special music the earth is making for you.

Happy Walking.
