Pelorus Sound Walking Track

Location

To get to Pelorus Sound, turn off the main road just past Havelock, onto Queen Charlotte Drive. Queen Charlotte Drive is the main road in the Sounds, other roads are narrow, winding, and most are unsealed.

Water taxi services are available from Havelock and French Pass to parts of Pelorus Sound.

Description

The Marlborough Sounds are renowned for their scenic blend of bush-clad hills and tranquil bays.

Archers Track (3 hr 30 min one way)

This walking track passes through native and pine forest from Penzance Bay to Elaine Bay. Allow 1 hour 30 minutes to Deep Bay.

Jacobs Bay/Fairy Bay Track (3 hr return (boat access only)

This track leads around Dillon Point between the two bays.

Putanui Point Track (30 min one way (boat access only)

A track over a forest-covered point to a lookout. Access is from either side of the point.

There is a DOC campsite at Elaine Bay.
