Mount Fox Route
- Location
- Access to the Mt Fox track is located, 3 km south of the Fox Glacier township on the east side of State Highway 6 at Thirsty Culvert.
- Description
It is a rugged 3 – 3.5 hours climb to the top of Mount Fox, suitable for fit, experienced and properly equipped trampers. The route is rough with limited track and steep grades through bush to 1021 metres.
From here the climb continues through snow tussock grassland to 1345 metres where your efforts will be well rewarded with fantastic views of the Southern Alps Ka Tiritiri o te Moana in one direction and the entire Fox Glacier coastal forest and farmland to seacoast in the other direction.
