Waiinu Beach
- Location
- Turn into Waiinu Beach Road and drive for 8 km to the beach. The Nukumaru Reserve has a grassed area with toilets, picnic benches and a children’s play area. Park the car here and begin walking.
- Description
- Walk east or west. Waiinu Beach is a black sandy beach with views around Wanganui and across to Marlborough. The colourful orange pingao and spinifex, sea and sand are striking to look at and worth visiting. Walk along the beach or behind the sand dunes. At high tide you may have to walk over the dunes or cross the rocky points. Popular beach for motorbikes and 4WD vehicles. Take care when walking.
