Bushy Park
- Location
- Bushy Park is only 10 minutes from State Highway Three and 20 minutes from Wanganui on 791 Rangitatau East Road, RD8, Kai Iwi
- Description
Bushy Park offers the visitor a unique experience with 240 acres of virgin rain forest crossed by a network of forest paths allowing you to stroll in peace before returning to the elegant homestead where you can enjoy al fresco dining on the verandah or a cafe treat in the dining room.
Bushy Park is also a protected native bird sanctuary and is home to many native birds, including endangered or rare species such as saddlebacks and kiwis.
Visitors to the forest are able to see New Zealand as it was before the arrival of man, and this is the true beauty of Bushy Park. It is not the length, or degree of difficulty of the walks, that keeps people returning, but the tranquillity and peace of the bush and the sound of thousands of unthreatened native birds.
Much of the forest can be accessed by a network of walks, varying in length from a few minutes to more than an hour, and from easy to moderate difficulty
Entry Fee to grounds and Homestead for day visitors is $6.00 adults, children under 15 are free.
