Bason Botanical Reserve
- Location
- Follow SH 3 north from Wanganui turning left into Rapanui Road. The Bason Botanical Reserve is signposted on the right after 5.5 km.
- Description
Recognised as a 'Garden of Regional Significance', Bason Botanic Gardens are full of colourful flowering plants throughout spring and summer. There are a number of walking trails leading around the gardens and the original homestead. Most of the walks are grassed or metalled with some on boardwalks, and an occasional incline.
The main parking area has toilets near the conservatories and homestead. Near the lake there are barbeque areas, picnic tables and large grassy areas.
