Westmere Lake
- Location
- 6 km north-west of Wanganui. Drive North on SH3. Turn left into Rapanui Road. The Westmere Lake wildlife refuge can be found about 700 m on the left by the signpost and parking area.
- Description
A wildlife refuge en route to the Bason Botanic Gardens featuring waterfowl and other birdlife, native plants and lakeside walks.
The track is grassy and wide. There is a short uphill section and log bridges cover boggy areas. If you follow the loop in an anticlockwise direction there is a short bush walk well signposted looping back to the lake track.
From the car park you have the best views of the lake
