The Rimutaka Range between Wellington's Hutt Valley and the Wairarapa Plains.

Description

The 22,000 ha Rimutaka Forest Park encompasses much of the Rimutaka Range. Easily accessible from Wellington, the area is popular with trampers and hunters. The popular Catchpool Valley recreational area is just 30 km from Wellington.

This video highlights the natural attributes of Catchpool and Orongorongo valleys in the beautiful Rimutaka Forest Park. It takes us on a journey through lowland rainforest and beech forest where we see a range of indigenous animals, including kiwi and the Wellington green gecko. It also highlights the many activities that can be enjoyed.
