Pukeiti is open all year round, except Christmas Day, and is a popular destination for tourists, visitors and locals, with free admittance for school children. Refreshments are available from the Gatehouse Cafe overlooking the gardens and include morning and afternoon teas and light lunches.
Sorry, no dogs allowed except registered guide dogs.
Pukeiti is a 360 hectare rain forest property and is an easy walk along mostly grassed tracks.
Walk more than 20 kilometres of bush tracks to explore old logging lines, a bush tramway, mountain streams and a waterwheel. View the garden for all seasons with something in flower everyday of the year and attractive grassed garden walks which are enhanced by the multitude of bird life. There are four main walks that are set out at Pukeiti. This is done to direct visitors to the areas of the gardens that have the most on offer at that time of year.Visit the below website for details of the different walks available.
