Location

15 minutes from New Plymouth.

From State Highway 3, turn into Otaraoa Road immediately after passing the Methanex plant at Motunui. The Jury Garden is 6km along Otaraoa Road on the left.

Description

‘Tikorangi The Jury Garden‘ is a Garden of National Significance, the highest rating given by the New Zealand Gardens Trust (allied to the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture).

Its history dates back to 1880 and remains one of the few inter-generational private gardens in New Zealand. The homestead stands majestically amid the gardens and is the third on the property and home to fourth and fifth generation Jury's.

The garden is open daily from September 1 until March 31. During this time, no appointment is necessary. Outside this time, appointments are preferred before visiting.

Walking trails and self guided tours are available as well as flower gardens and native wildlife.

Admission is $10.00 per adult. Children are welcome in this family garden and there is no entry charge.
