Description

Ngatoro Loop Walk (45 – 60 min return)

The track begins near the Camp house in the upper car park at North Egmont, in Egmont National Park.
The Ngatoro Loop Walk meanders down a damp mossy valley through ‘goblin forest’. There are fine specimens of pahautea (mountain cedar) and the alseuosmia shrub kararapa, which has strong scented crimson flowers in November.

This walk starts on the Summit Track to the left of the Camp house at North Egmont. The Ngatoro Loop walk branches off to the left over the ford several hundred metres along, and descends to the Maketawa Track. Turn left and follow the track back up to the car park.

Warning: do not confuse this walk with the similarly named Ngatoro Loop Track which is a 5 hour return journey.
