Waipawa Walks

Description

The Waipawa area offers a variety of walks, mainly around residential areas but also giving a rural flavour.

For a comfortable stroll, take the 2km Mill Block walk. Heading south along McGreevy Street, you will pass the Waipawa Saw Mill before continuing along the State Highway.

The Bush Block walk is also predominantly flat with its 2.4km on both residential and country roads.

Slightly more challenging is the Abbotsford trek of 3.2km, taking in part of the Great Waipawa Walk with some hill climbing on Abbotsford Road. A residential walk with churches to view along the way.

The 4.2km Great Waipawa Walk takes you along the flat on High Street (past the Waipawa Museum) and Ruataniwha Street in town. Abbotsford Road, with intermittent footpaths is very hilly heading southbound before flattening out and then on the downhill to Great North Road.

Waipawa also has a Heritage Trail with sights of interest including some of the town's original buildings.
