Sugar Loaf Reserve
- Location
- Access is either from the top of Cumberland Rise or from the Lance Leikis Reserve at the top of Tironui Drive. A small car park is available at both locations.
- Description
The Sugar Loaf hill, so called because of its steep sides and rounded top, is 127 metres high and forms a prominent local landmark that can be seen from most parts of Napier and Taradale.
Eastern views from the summit cover the Napier-Taradale area and much of the Heretaunga Plains, while western views include the Ruahine and Kaweka Ranges.
The track to the summit is steep especially from the Cumberland Rise entrance. The walk is graded moderate to difficult. Care should be taken in wet conditions.
