Horseshoe Bend Bridge Walk – Clutha River
- Location
- Drive south from Millers Flat for 4.5 km along Beaumont Station Road. Turn right and drive for about 3km to a signposted car park. The track car park is 1km before ‘Somebody’s Darling’ grave site. The SH8 end of the walk starts 9km south of Millers Flat following the east bank and a DOC reserve and public road on the west bank.
- Description
A loop track that takes you to Horseshoe Bend Suspension Bridge (built 1913). Along the way are some beautiful river views. This bridge is the last remaining suspension bridge over the Clutha River.
The ‘Somebody’s Darling’ grave site is a must down the road and has DOC interpretation panels explaining the importance of this site.
