Duffers Saddle – Old Woman Range

- Drive south on Bannockburn road till the start of the Nevis road, which is one of the highest roads in New Zealand. Park at the top of the cattlestop. From here the views extend over the whole of Otago with Mt Cook in the distance.
- Description
The walk is on a 4WD track south to Duffers Saddle. From here the track leads up to a stile and signpost marking the boundary of the DOC reserve. The DOC Old Woman Hut is to the right beside a stream that leads to ae 4WD track onto Old Woman tops also known as 'Polar Plateau’ in winter. It is advisable to follow the fencelines as it is easy to get disoriented.
The Cromwell visitor centre has a pamphlet produced by the Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust which has points of interest along the road.
4-5 hours round trip from Nevis Road.
