Chafer Beetle Reserve

- The reserve is located along Bannockburn Road, adjacent to the Transpower Cromwell Substation. Managed by the Department of Conservation.
- Description
- The 81ha Cromwell chafer reserve is the first in New Zealand (and one of the very few in the world) to be created specifically to protect an insect – the Cromwell Chafer. Visitors are invited to visit the reserve and read the interpretation plaques located adjacent to the Road car park area.
