Bluecliffs to Wairaurahiri via Port Craig
- Location
- Travel to Tuatapere on SH 99 to the south western district. From Tuatapere turn onto Papatōtara Road and follow the signs to Bluecliffs Beach. The first 21 kilometres are sealed and the remaining seven kilometres are gravel road of a good standard. Cars can be left in the car park (at the owner's risk), signposted in front of the Rarakau Station homestead, 150 metres past the track entrance.
- Description
This part of the South Coast track leads on to the Wairaurahiri and Waitutu River track, then you can continue on the more challenging Waitutu River to Big River route. There is no hut at Big River and no tracks or huts beyond this point.
This track can be combined with the Hump Ridge Track as a round trip.
