Episode Six - I'll Show Them What a Real Dog Looks Like
“I’ll show them what a real dog looks like,” Betty Bunion says aloud as she clips the leash on Butch her beloved Boxer. Taking Butch along on a Wonder Walkers outing is a fab idea she decides. After all, isn’t that why many people walk – to exercise their dogs?
Betty smiles as she thinks of the last Wonder Walkers outing and Trudy Tendon with Pooples. She wonders if Trudy knows that people often take on the characteristics of their pets. Strangely Betty doesn’t make the same connection between herself and her brainy boisterous Boxer.
Betty’s mood is buoyant. Other Wonder Walker cluster groups are under way around town thanks to her advertising. Where it will end? Her initiative may well be the catalyst that spurs hundreds of women to get walking – in her city alone.
As for her own Wonder Walkers group, they had a fine time at the café last week. Tabitha convinced Trudy to come to the next walk. While Trudy may appear an unlikely contender, she said it was a mighty fine excuse to buy some Dolce & Gabbana sneakers.
… And here she is beautifully shod. Betty arrives at the Walkers’ meeting point to find both Trudy and Susie Strider waiting. Trudy appears to be feigning interest in the workings of Susie’s pedometer. All Susie’s talk about needing to do 10,000 steps a day has her wondering if the D&G sneakers will go the distance.
Trudy’s brow furrows disappear when she spots Betty’s Butch straining at the lead.
A yelp from her handbag indicates she’s not the only one to notice the four-legged addition to the group.
Will Butch and Pooples hit it off?
Will Susie do 10,001 strides today?
Is Trudy’s lycra walking outfit really a designer number?
