Tarawera Falls

- Located in the Tarawera Forest approximately 20 minutes drive from Kawerau.
- Description
This is an easy walk for most people to take in the spectacular Tarawera Falls and river and experience New Zealand’s most natural native fauna.
An access permit must first be obtained for travel through this private forest. Permits cost $2 and directions to the falls are signposted form access point at Waterhouse Street (go across a one lane bridge). Permits can be obtained from the Kawerau Information Centre.
