Episode Four - Lets Talk and Walk
Susie steps forth proving her reputation is not undeserved. “Come on ladies, what are we here for? Let’s step it out.”
“I think we should take a minute to get acquainted first,” says Patty.
Roxie mutters something about needing to get the walk done before her kids chew through their straps and Ani chuckles to herself recalling those days as a mum of preschoolers.
“They can drive you crazy, can’t they,” she says sympathetically. “Just wait till they’re older and YOU have to drive THEM everywhere.”
Susie interrupts “let’s talk AND walk.” She’s alternately stretching and jogging on the spot, “this is going to be fantastic”.
The mixed bunch are quite a sight as they move off towards town with common purpose – Susie taking the lead, setting a cracking pace.
Tabitha rolls her eyes … there’s no one here who can claim to have even remotely walked in HER shoes. She can’t see herself coming back again but she decides to suck up the exercise for today.
The Striding Seven round the corner chattering among themselves, a cloud of oestrogen-charged energy spread the width of the footpath.
Meanwhile an unsuspecting willowy goddess is in full shoegasm in front of a store window when she is swept into the Wonder Walkers whirl, almost falling clear off her 6-inch heels.
“Aaargh, help!! Watch it!!” yells Trudy Tendon as she gracefully crumples to the footpath with one hand cushioning the fall for her fluffy handbag hound, Pooples.
The Wonder Walkers are stopped in their tracks.
Will Trudy’s fall break her nails?
Will someone else buy the shoes while she’s incapacitated?
Will the Wonder Walkers lay waste to anyone else?
