Teal Valley and Country Churchyards

- Start from St John’s Church, Hira
- Description
Leave the church and cemetery and drive to Teal Valley. Turn right just before the Whangamoa Hill. This is well sign-posted. Park on the grass verge and walk 50 min return trip up the valley.
Return trip take the second driveway on the left after Wakapuaka Tennis Courts and before the Glen turn-off, to the old St Andrew’s Cemetery.This walk features St John’s Church with its steeple and chimney! 100m uphill is the graveyard of early residents in the Cable Bay area.
The Teal Valley walk takes you up to the garden of Christopher Vine, a local artist and potter.
On your return journey visit the St Andrew’s Cemetery where the graves and history reveal the lives of early European settlers.
