Lathams Hills Track

Location
Begins at the Latham property 17 km south of Whakatane on SH 30.
Description

A gentle climb over farmland leads into manuka and fern scrub, then regenerating bush before dipping into an attractive valley. Cross the stream and follow the path to the top of the hill, which is one of the half a dozen pa sites in the vicinity. The track leads south along a ridge through lush native bush, then rises to a trig station.

This track takes in farmland, bush and pa sites. Its native bird species include tui, bellbird, kereru and fantails which may be observed on the walk. There is a small car park.
