Marybank

Location
Park the car in the loop of Atawhai Drive just past the large green sign pointing to Marybank Road. Walk up Marybank Road to the reserve which is signposted as a coastal forest remnant.
Description

This walk is suitable for families and offers good views of Boulder Bank.

Part way through the forest is a stretch of lawn with a seat, playground and you can have a look over the fence at a model Dutch windmill. The path then takes you uphill through nikau, kawa-kawa, ngaio, kahikatea and cabbage trees. Carry on up to the top of the reserve and then turn left to rejoin Marybank Road.

Walk down the hill and turn right into Seaton Street, which passes some beautiful gardens. Take a left downhill into Tresillian Ave, where you will find a small reserve with a playing area and picnic table on the left. Turn left into Atawhai Dr and take the footpath along in front of the school, through to where it leads behind a strip of flax and ngaio back to the Atawhai loop where you started.
