Kohi Point Scenic Reserve

Location

Start from the car park at the bottom of the Mokorua Gorge, alternatively if not undertaking the Nga Tapuwae -o-Toi round trip the Kohi Point walk section can be started from Seaview Road or from the other direction at Ohope’s West End.

Description

The track passes the head of the Wairere Falls. This was one of the landmarks which helped voyagers on the Mataatua waka identify their destination on arrival to New Zealand many centuries ago.

There are information boards along the way which give history of the area.
