Glentui River Crimson Trail - Oxford
- Location
As you enter the Oxford township, High Street leads north to become Ashley Gorge Road. This provides entry to the major access points of the forest.
About 5 km east of the Ashley Gorge Bridge turn left onto Glentui Bush Road and follow it to Glentui Homestay. Contact Jan & Gea Heijnen, 03 312 3670, for permission to access.
- Description
- This is the closest rata to Christchurch that can be viewed from a private track (with beech, rimu and kahikatea) along the river gorge as well as on the sides and crest of the terraces. Spend a day on the DOC tracks from the picnic area further up the valley in an ecologically fascinating area.
