New Brighton - Beach and River Walk
- Location
- Start from the large car park south of the pier off Marine Parade.
- Description
Dogs can be exercised off the leash on the beach (except 100 m, either side of the pier).
Short walk option: After leaving the car park walk along the dune crest track, 20 minutes return.
From the car park there are two routes available. Either stroll south along the beach or walk along the dune crest. This track offers wonderful views.
At the picnic table near Tovey Street the track moves from the dunes reaching the large car park and beach shower opposite Bellamy Avenue. Cross Marine Parade and walk down Bellamy Avenue. Turn right along Union Street and cross into Falcon Street and down to the estuary and riverside.
Turn right following the raised stopbank and skirting past the public reserve and conifers. Just past Evans Road, the track passes a fishing platform and reaches a boat ramp. From here you may see Canada geese and shags.
Cross Owles Terrace and walk along Hardy Street to Seaview Road. Turn right into New Brighton Mall and walk along to the pier and car park.
