Location

Situated between Gisborne and Opotiki, approximately 60km from Gisborne city and about 24km from Matawai village, Haurata is located on the Makaretu road (gravel) 12.5km off State Highway 2.

Description

Haurata is a retreat set amongst 600+ rhododendrons, deciduous and evergreen trees and native bush edged by a beautiful rocky river creating a 7ha park like setting.

There are three different walks in interesting farmland to enjoy. You can enjoy leisure walks, explore the river, find safe swimming holes for younger children and more challenging ones for grownups. Hurtle down rock slides , build huts, play in the trees and follow the tracks through the native bush.
