Ahuriri Conservation Park

Location
Access to the park is via Birchwood Road which leaves SH 8 about 17 km west of Omarama township. Birchwood Road runs for 21 km up to the park boundary, after which it is 4WD only for a further 10 km to the road end.
Description

The Ahuriri Conservation Park has over 49,000 hectares of rugged mountain country, valuable and vulnerable wetlands, tussock lands and beech / tawhai forest.

The park offers numerous short walks and easy valley tramps. More experienced parties can travel between valleys over high alpine passes.
