North Shore Dune Walk
- Location
- Start at the car park beside Broad Park. Finish at Waimairi Surf Life Saving clubhouse.
- Description
Dogs can be exercised off the leash on the track and on the beach.
Short option: Walk up the dune crest track from the car park, 20 min return.
Explore the North Shore dunes returning via the beach. The views are superb, no roads to cross and Broad Park has an excellent children’s playground.
Leave the car park and follow the gravel track (part of the Southern Pegasus Bay Track to Spencer Park). This weaves in and out through the sand dunes crossing access tracks to the beach and North Shore suburb. A well formed track climbs up onto the dune crest with views of the shoreline.
Take the track back to the main dune track. It crosses one four way junction before reaching another four way junction. Watch for mountain bikers.
At this junction turn right and cross to the beach and back to Waimairi Surf Life Saving clubhouse landmark. There is a track leading from the surf club to a car park, children’s playground and toilets.
