Kuirau Park occupies an area of geothermal activity typified by many hot springs, gas and steam upflows, thermally altered ground and silica deposits from prehistoric times.
As advised in all geothermal areas, it is important to stay on the walkways for your safety.
This is a park that keeps tourists on their toes as it has been the scene of a number of small eruptions. Fascinating mud pools and you don’t have to pay to view them!
