Set in a sheltered north-facing valley at Charteris Bay, on the southern shores of Lyttelton harbour, Orton Bradley Park offers something for everyone and is an ideal destination for walking, hiking, horse trekking, picnicking, and camping. Choose from a variety of picnic and barbeque areas. Explore the bush walks – there are numerous well-marked tracks for walkers of all ages and fitness and you will be able to climb Mt Herbert, the highest point on Banks Peninsula, affording panoramic views of the Peninsula. Admire the towering trees, the native birds and plants.
The park is a 653 hectare working farm-park. There is an information centre, plenty of areas to play and historical farm machinery.
There are short walks in the park: Big Rock, Rhododendron Walk and mill race, waterwheel, millpond and small 20m waterfall that is fed by a natural spring. Longer walks from the park are available: Mt Herbert Peak and back (full day), and Tableland Circuit 2-3 hrs. There is also a side-track from Tableland track to Packhorse Hut which links to Mt Bradley and Mt Herbert. (Full day)- Amenities
