Zippy –de-do-da it’s Thursday today, hums Patty Placard as she grapples in the laundry basket to find her Wonder Walkers tee-shirt. I must get some of these printed for the others, she enthuses.

Across town Laura Laces rummages through her mahogany drawers looking for her long-lost sports bra. Chafing from the lacy number she wore for last week’s inaugural Wonder Walkers outing had been simply unbearable.

Down the road, Ani Ambler wonders if a panty liner will suffice if she suffers one of those embarrassing leaky moments brought on by a rigorous walk. Best choose the dark pants, she thinks. Just in case.

Roxie Rambler bundles her twins in the car determined not to miss Wonder Walkers. Last week had been a near miss. Thanks to the professional delaying tactics mastered by her pre-schoolers, she’d only just caught the Wonder Walkers as they set off on their first five kilometre walk.

Betty Bunion meanwhile, is hoping the walking group’s enthusiasm won’t be short lived. They’d all said they’d be back for more, and maybe with more.
