Kerrs Reach Walk

- Start from the car park beside the hockey ground at Porritt Park on Avonside Drive.
- Description
This walk is an enjoyable stroll along a broad section of the Avon River. There is a good sealed path with many seats along the riverbank.
From the Porritt Park car park walk downstream. Cross the footbridge that crosses an old bend of the Avon River. The path is well sealed following the riverbank alongside Avonside Drive to the Avondale Road bridge. There are seats under the willow trees along the riverbank. Return to Porritt Park on the same pathway.
This stretch of the Avon River is the main rowing centre for Christchurch where rowing crews can often be seen training.
Short walk option: from the car park walk around the old river bend enclosing Porritt Park, 20 mins return.
Dogs may be exercised off the leash along the riverbank and in Porritt Park.
