Kennedys Bush Reserve - Quarry Trail

Location

Kennedys Bush Reserve lies at the head of a valley that falls to the west from the crater rim of the extinct Lyttelton volcano. Its bush-clad gullies lie below the Summit Road and descend away from the Harbour towards Halswell.

Start by taking the Orongomail Trail, but some way down the descent, take the Quarry Trail.

Description

You pass under the old cut faces of a small quarry site. Some of the rocks underfoot can be slippery. Sidle and then start a gradual climb to meet the Orongomai Trail. Continue back to the Sign of the Bellbird.
